Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Sipd LLC ("Sipd," "we," "us," or "our"), a New York limited liability company that operates the Sipd mobile application (the "App"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
Who can use Sipd
Sipd is intended only for users who are 21 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 21, we will delete it.
Information we collect
We collect the following information that you provide or that is generated through your use of the App:
- Account information: your username, password (stored in encrypted/hashed form), and optional profile photo.
- Phone number: if you choose to provide it, we use your phone number so that friends can find you from their contacts. We store your phone number and a hashed version of it for matching.
- Contacts: if you grant permission, the App accesses the contacts on your device solely to help you find friends who already use Sipd. We match contacts to existing users; we do not store your full contact list on our servers beyond what is needed to perform this matching.
- Location: with your permission, the App uses your device location to show bars near you and to display your position on the map. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
- Content you create: bar ratings, reviews, drink ratings, visit history, saved bars, groups, and follows.
- Usage and device data: basic technical information needed to operate the App and keep your account secure (such as session information).
How we use your information
- To provide and operate the App's features (ratings, maps, groups, friend discovery).
- To create and secure your account.
- To let other users find and follow you, consistent with your settings.
- To improve the App, including reviewing optional feedback you provide.
- To comply with legal obligations.
How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- With other users: your username, profile photo, ratings, reviews, and similar content are visible to other users consistent with the App's social features and your settings.
- Service providers: we use Google Maps / Google Places to provide bar location and map data. Your use of map features is also subject to Google's privacy policy.
- Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the App.
Bar and venue information
Sipd displays information about bars and venues, including data from third-party sources such as Google Places. We do not own, operate, or endorse these venues, and we are not responsible for their accuracy, availability, or conduct.
Your choices and rights
- Account deletion: you can permanently delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings → Delete Account). Deleting your account removes your profile, ratings, reviews, saved bars, follows, group memberships, phone number, and associated data.
- Permissions: you can enable or disable contacts and location access at any time in your device settings.
- Access and correction: you may contact us to request access to or correction of your information.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the GDPR, including the right to know what information we hold, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information).
Data retention and security
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data. We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, though no system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
The App is not directed to and may not be used by anyone under 21. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
